What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

June 11th, 2019

Developing Self Talk diagramCognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a treatment that helps you understand how your feelings and thoughts can influence your behaviors. The goal is to change thought patterns or behaviors that are behind your difficulties, so you can change the way you feel. Positive self thoughts and encouraging words help change the way we feel about our self.

CBT focuses on a positive solution and challenges our emotional dysfunctions. The treatment was designed to treat depression and anxiety, but its uses have been expanded to include treatment of a number of mental health disorders.
